Black Sea TradeNet (BST)

Black Sea Tradenet Project is financed by Black Sea Basin Joint Operational Programme 2007-2013 - a programme under the European Neighborhood & Partnership Instrument (ENPI) of the EU. It aims to contribute to: "a stronger and sustainable economic and social development of the regions of the Black Sea Basin" and have three specific objectives:

  • Promoting economic and social development in the border areas
  • Working together to address common challenges
  • Promoting local, people-to-people cooperation

Target groups

  • Small and medium-sized enterprises in 7 partner-towns from 5 countries
  • Business Support Organizations (BSOs) from all 5 countries

Estimated outputs and results

  • Joint events for encouraging and promoting economic and trade intra-regional partnerships, enhancing direct contact and mutual knowledge among businesses in the Basin
  • Supporting instruments in order to promote and facilitate intra-regional economic and trade cooperation
  • The Black Sea Tradenet network, with 7 contact points in Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and Turkey, as a common framework for developing intra-regional economic and trade cooperation in the Black Sea Basin
  • Increasing know-how and good case practices transfer among business support organizations from all 5 countries
  • Documentation on 9 subjects related to business registering, operating and cooperating in the 5 partner-countries

Expected impact

The lack of mutual knowledge and connectivity among business environment in the Black Sea Basin has become a main issue in developing intra-regional partnerships in the area. By developing the “Black Sea Tradenet” network, with contact points in Romania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey, small and medium enterprises will have access to information and trade supporting instruments. The project will increase the visibility of Black Sea Basin and the venture investments, by bringing together investors willing to start up new intra-regional business cooperation. Moreover, the project will have impact upon building the institutional capacity of business support organizations by improving their know-how on Black Sea Basin specificity and based on good practice and experience transfer on economic development from Baltic and Mediterranean similar networks.

Total project budget 379.975 Euro, of which EU financing 341.977 Euro (90%)
